York Youth Orchestra Summer Concert

The York Youth Orchestra presents an afternoon concert at St Chad’s Church, York, celebrating the breadth and talent of its young performers across brass, wind, and string ensembles. The first half opens with the YYO Brass performing Anton Bruckner’s Christus Factus Est and Purcell’s Trumpet Tune, followed by the evocative Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch, featuring cello soloist Eve Bate with the YYO String Orchestra. The String Quartet continues with a 20-minute set before the Wind ensemble closes the half with Fauré’s Masques et Bergamasques. After a short interval, the second half begins with ragtime flair in Crazy Bone Rag, and Elgar Howarth’s Suite for Brass. The concert concludes with a lyrical performance of Holst’s St Paul’s Suite by the YYO String Orchestra. A joyful celebration of youth music-making.
