At Borlase, the teaching staff work hard to keep on top of the latest research into teaching and learning. For the last couple of years we have been working on an evidence-based approach to learning called High Performance Learning. Influenced by the latest work in the spheres of psychology, neuroscience and pedagogy, it presents a powerful insight into what factors lie behind high performance and how students, teachers parents can influence outcomes. The key driver of the High Performance Learning agenda is Professor Deborah Eyre, formerly of the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth. Earlier this year, Deborah wrote a book in collaboration with Wendy Berliner, an award winning education journalist at The Guardian, called Great Minds and How to Grow Them. The book provides accessible, effective strategies to helping to raise children who are better at learning how to learn. I am delighted that Wendy has agreed to come to Borlase to run a parent workshop in which she will talk through the ideas of the book and some of the strategies that parents can employ. This event will take place at Borlase on 13 Nov 2018 from 6pm to 7.30pm.
